Why do we often only talk about prevention once something has already happened? In the new episode of our podcast, Holger Berens speaks together with Jani Nakos about critical infrastructure, crisis preparedness, resilience and the role of the Federal Association for the Protection of Critical Infrastructure (BSKI). Jani Nakos is a founding member and board member of the BSKI and has worked in the IT and consulting environment for more than 30 years. Together they discuss why security does not begin only in a crisis, why prevention often receives attention too late, and what role networking, knowledge transfer and collaboration play for resilient structures.

The focus is on concrete initiatives and practical experience around the protection of critical infrastructure, strengthening security and resilience, and forward-looking crisis preparedness. Topics include prevention approaches, security concepts for schools, the Naumburg model, and the close networking of municipalities, public authorities and companies. Beyond that, the focus is on the exchange of knowledge and experience within the BSKI, the promotion of junior talent and young professionals, and the future development of resilience and crisis preparedness in Germany. Together we discuss why resilience does not arise through technology alone, but through the interplay of people, organizations and societal preparation.

An episode about critical infrastructure, prevention and the question of how Germany can become more resilient in the long term.
