Is Europe's cybersecurity model too strict – or future-proof precisely because of it?

In the final episode of our InCyber Forum special series, Manuel Bohé speaks with Arthur Langlois from Expertise France about Europe's role in global cybersecurity, different international models, and how European values and solutions can be promoted around the world. At the heart of the conversation is the question of how Europe can support countries in strengthening their cybersecurity while also promoting its own approach internationally. While the US relies more heavily on the private sector and self-regulation, Europe takes a different path – shaped by regulation, data protection and consensus among 27 member states.

This goes far beyond political strategy. European projects provide practical support – from developing cybersecurity strategies and legal frameworks to establishing SOCs, CSIRTs and training programmes. European companies can also play a role by providing software, hardware and infrastructure for these projects.

Cybersecurity does not stop at national borders. Different models and interests compete globally while the threat landscape continues to evolve. Hybrid threats and foreign information manipulation show that attacks can target not only technical systems but also vulnerabilities within societies. The episode explores why international cooperation, the right expertise and strong partnerships are becoming increasingly important.
